Joyce Bova, 86, a lifelong resident of Lawrence and Methuen passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Joyce was born in Lawrence and was educated in Lawrence Schools.
Joyce worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 21 years before working for 12 years as the Council Clerk for the City of Methuen. She retired from that job to care for her husband, Maurice A. Bova, who predeceased her in 1999.
Joyce was an amazing woman whose spirit and unique sense of humor made a lasting impression on all who were lucky enough to know her.
She is survived by her daughter Paula Blaney and her boyfriend Chuck DeFabrizio of Methuen. She also leaves behind three brothers, Peter Dugan of North Andover, Frank Dugan of Seabrook, NH, and Edward Dugan of San Jose, California, sisters, Ruth Leosz of Salem, NH, and Mary Ippolito of North Andover, and a son, Christopher Bova of Pembroke, NH.
A celebration of Joyce's life will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday, July 26, 2018 at10:00AM in St. Theresa's Church, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Plymouth Street, Methuen. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
