Josephine Kemembin – Lawrence, MA

Josephine Kemembin, of Lawrence MA, aged 85 passed peacefully at the Lawrence General Hospital on January 24, 2023. She was born January 1, 1938 in Cameroon (West Africa) - Kumba. She was the daughter of late, Papa Mathias Kunju and Mama Magdalene (Ngimanju). She was raised in Cameroon. She got married to her late husband in 1952.

She was a seamstress by profession and she also owned a restaurant.  Josephine moved to the United States in 1996 to join her children. She lived in the United States for 27 years. She was devoted to raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Josephine is survived by her 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sons-in-law and daughters-in-law. She joined Catholic Women Association (CWA) in 1972 and was very active in her community. She will be greatly missed!!

Calling Hours are Friday, March 17, 2023 from 3 – 7:00 PM at Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 12:30 PM at St. Anne’s Parish, 292 Jefferson Ave, Salem, MA 01970.  Please meet the family at the church.
