Joseph Kalil Obituary

Joseph William Kalil, 90 passed away peacefully at his North Andover home on Friday January 15, 2021 surrounded by his family. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of more than 60 years Joan (Michalowski), his three loving daughters and sons-in-law Judy and Bill Raitt, Margaret and Alan Fielding, Ellen and Dave Burke and his three sons and daughters–in-law, Andrew and Kerrie Kalil, Peter and Jaye-Ellen Kalil and John and Chris Kalil.  He was the cherished grandfather and great grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Joseph also leaves his sister, Julia (Kalil) Collins of Tennessee . He was predeceased by his parents, William and Sarah Kalil, his sister Genevieve (Kalil) Caux, Zakie (Kalil) Howard and his brother Edward Kalil.

Joseph was retired from MIT Lincoln Laboratories, Lexington after 40 plus years as a technician in their radar division. He faithfully served his country in the Air Force (Division of the US Army) from 1946 to 1949 receiving the WWII Victory Medal.

Joseph’s life was devoted to his family and friends. He was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Anthony Parish of Lawrence.  For 50 plus years, he was an active church member yearly assisting in the Maharajan Lebanese Festival. He was also a member of  the Holy Name Society at the Saint Anthony’s . Joe was an avid tinkerer who had the unique ability to fix almost anything and he could not resist a new tool or two or three to complete a project. He was an epic cook in his own right who introduced all to a variety of Lebanese Mediterranean Cuisine well before it was a popular heart healthy diet.
