John Spencer Taylor, 80, of Topsham Maine died peacefully surrounded by family at Hill House Assisted Living in Bath Maine on July 13, 2021.
The son of the late John and Annetta Taylor of Methuen Massachusetts, John was born and raised in Methuen graduating High School and was the first in his family to attend college, Clark University class of 1962. He worked for CIGNA until he took early retirement and moved to Moosehead Lake Maine where he enjoyed the beauty and solitude of the North woods.
John was an avid reader and student of history and the Civil war in particular. He was known for his Manhattan Cocktails and love of his dogs. His quick wit and love of New England sports teams always gave a passing friend or visitor topics for conversation.
John is survived by his son John Anthony Taylor and wife Rebecca Brewster-Taylor and their children Spencer, Coenradt, and Jacquelyn, his daughter Anne Taylor Kindblom and her husband Erik Kindblom and their children Emma and Charlotte. He also leaves his 2 step daughters Deidre Lupion and her husband Eric Lupion and their child Shavonne, and Kate O’Neil. Lastly, he is survived by his loving life partner Marie Guerin with whom he shared a special bond for many years.
John was predeceased by his second wife Diane La Rochelle Taylor and her son John O’Neil.

Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Monday July 19, 2021 from 10 am to 11 am at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am on Monday at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Methuen.
