John Joseph Mikol, known affectionately as Jack, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in Haverhill, Massachusetts following a battle with lung cancer and complications from a heart attack.
Born December 21, 1942, in Medford, Massachusetts to John A Mikol and Helen (Samulski) Mikol, Jack attended Medford High School, where he met and fell in love with his first wife, Georgianna (MacPhail) Mikol. After graduating from high school in 1960, Jack went on to attend Bentley College with a major in accounting. It was during this time that he realized his true passion in life, truck driving.
Jack went on to drive trucks for Sears and Roebucks before eventually settling into his career at Lechmere department stores. He delivered for Lechmere for over 30 years before retiring. Jack would often tell people that he never worked a day in his life, highlighting his love for the job. Beyond trucking, Jack loved cars and racing. He even raced a car at Norwood Arena that he and his friends built themselves.
Jack was blessed twice with love. He was married to Georgianna for 24 years, with whom he started his family. He had 2 daughters and was a wonderful husband and an amazing girl dad. Following Georgianna’s passing, he met Therese and the two wed shortly after, enjoying a marriage spanning 36 years. Therese introduced Jack to Jesus, and together they attended Trinity Evangelical Church, where they served for many years and formed countless bonds and friendships.
Jack is predeceased by his first wife, Georgianna (MacPhail) Mikol, his daughter Donna Lister, his brother Edward Mikol, his second wife Therese (Levasseur) Mikol, and Therese’s daughter, Kelly Donahue.
Jack is survived by his daughter LynneMarie Ellis and her husband Wayne, his grandson Joshua Ellis, his brother Ron and his wife Joanne Mikol, Ron’s children Ron Jr., Marisa, and Kristy, his sister-in-law Linda and her daughter Elizabeth, his stepchildren Michelle and her husband Andre Fontaine, Daniel and his wife Fran Donahue, and Paul Donahue, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 10:30am at Trinity Evangelical Church, located at 105 Haverhill Street in North Reading, MA. Refreshments will be provided following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Hight Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA.
