John James Mellor

John James Mellor, 77, of Methuen passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024. John was born to James and Ruth Mellor on July 29, 1947, the youngest of four siblings.

Raised in the Quaker religion, John was a member of the Class of 1965 at the Meeting School in Rindge, NH and graduated from Franklin Tech in Boston.

John served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. When he returned, he and his close circle of friends spent time pursuing their interests in music, skiing, sailing and travelling.

In 1982, John met Janet Cleary and fell in love, marrying in 1984. For forty years, they enjoyed each other’s company, especially spending time with family members and hosting many family gatherings.

John is survived by his wife, Janet Mellor, his two stepsons, Richard and Thomas and his wife Michele Angers, his sister-in-law, Susan Jutras, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his brother and sisters Beverly Perry, David and Claire Mellor, and Brenda and Kenneth Easton.

Calling hours will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2-4 pm at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
