John P. “Jack” Loeschen – Pelham, NH
Jack passed peacefully at his home in Pelham, NH on July 15th surrounded by his loving wife and children. Jack was born and raised in Methuen. In his younger years, he could often be found hunting and fishing at the Spicket River. In 1966 he began what turned out to be a 40 year career with the Town of Methuen. Jack truly worked his way up the ladder, beginning his career as a laborer. In 1968 though, he was drafted by the United States Army, where he was stationed at Ft. Huachuca in Arizona. After proudly serving his country he returned to his job on “The Town”. Jack loved his job and had a very strong work ethic. He loved running heavy equipment, especially backhoes, graders, and dozers. Through hard work and determination, he worked his way up to the position of Highway Superintendent. Jack was a devoted and dedicated employee of the town for 40 years. He ultimately retired early to care for his elderly mother.
In his free time Jack enjoyed gardening and working around the house and yard. He split 5 cord of wood yearly for his garage, where he loved to entertain family and friends, whether for holidays, Patriots games, or just to relax and watch westerns. If not in his garage, he sometimes gathered with friends around his 600 brick cathedral fireplace that he built by hand with the help of some great friends. Another thing he really enjoyed were his trips to Mohegan Sun to “donate” money. Jack was a proud member of the American Legion Post 122 (Methuen) but also frequented Post 100 (Pelham). He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a member of the Dom Polski in Lowell.
Jack and his wife Carole, originally met in grammar school. They reunited many years later. They were officially married for 17 years but were a couple for almost 40 years. Jack was very quick witted. He was a big guy with an even bigger heart. Jack fought a very courageous, 3 year long battle with cancer, while always keeping a positive attitude and mindset the entire time.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, William F and Barbara (Gearin) Loeschen, and brother William J. Loeschen. He is survived by his wife Carole (Mlechko) Loeschen, son John W. Loeschen, his wife Tracy (Grealish) Loeschen - granddaughters Jennifer and Jillian, daughter Kelly (Loeschen) Buco, her husband Michael Buco - grandson Travis Hirst, his partner Sarah Seeman, and granddaughter Isabella Buco. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Irving and Rose, as well as many cousins, and countless friends.
