On December 20th, 2022, Joan Claire (Trocan) Samataro received her wings to join the many angels waiting for her. She was 90 years old. Born in Newark, NJ in 1932, to the late Rose and Rudy Trocan, Joan graduated from East Side High School in Newark, NJ later residing in Lawrence, MA and then Salem, NH ( but she always referred to herself as a Jersey girl) with the love of her life, her husband George F. Samataro for 70 years.
Joan raised 5 children and devoted her heart to bringing smiles to the hearts of everyone she met. In later years, she spent many days traveling to Foxwoods, playing Bingo, and stealing as much time as she could with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her sons, George Samataro Jr. and his wife Mary of Lowell, MA, Richard Samataro of Salem, NH, John Samataro and his wife Darlene of Laconia, NH, daughter Lisa Samataro of Salem, NH daughter Karen Samataro of Salem, NH, and many loving grand-children, great-grand-children, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 12:30 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
