Joan C. Rademacher, 90 of Methuen passed away on Sunday November 30, 2025 at Lawrence General Hospital. Mrs. Rademacher was born in Lawrence on December 11, 1934 to John R. and Monica V. (Kaupinis) Stackelin.
She was predeceased by her husband Theodore C. “Ted” Rademacher who she first met at a dance in Lawrence when he was stationed at Ft. Devins. Joan attended the School of Practical Art in Boston (now The Art Institute of Boston). She taught art in her home and in Bradford through the Greater Haverhill Art Association. Joan worked as a commercial artist for several companies including Richard Salinger Advertising of Boston, Sutherlands of Lawrence, Advertising Management Services of Andover and Glen Graphics of Glen, NH.
Joan was a member of the New England Watercolor Society, North Shore Arts Association, The Concord Art Association, The Newburyport Art Association, The Andover Artists Guild and The Haverhill Art Association. Joan won many art awards and had her work published in Best of Watercolor, Painting Light and Shadow, Rockport Publishers, 1997. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church of Lawrence and more recently a member of St. Lucy Parish of Methuen.
Joan loved painting and said she “would paint everyday if she could.” She enjoyed summer vacations in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her husband and her children and their families. Joan loved taking her family to the beach and enjoying a seafood dinner afterwards at Browns. She would never turn down a lobster dinner. She enjoyed mushrooming in the woods and loved feeding and caring for stray cats, birds and other wildlife near her home in Methuen and enjoyed playing word games with her children and grandchildren.
Joan’s family members include her sons, Karl Rademacher and his wife, Michelle (Picone) of Methuen, Douglas Rademacher and his wife, Cynthia (Davis) of Warwick, RI and Michael Rademacher and his wife, Annie (Schwab) of Arlington, MA. She also leaves her grandchildren, Aja and her husband Dan Weightman, Liam, Max and his wife Dana (Trisman), Emma, Jake, Sally, Otto and Elsa as well as greatgrandchildren, Jaxon, Xander, and Maddox. She also leaves her brother, John C. Stackelin and his wife Judy.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday January 9, 2026 from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway Methuen. A Funeral Mass will be on Saturday January 10 at 10:30 am at St Lucy Church 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Family and guests are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
