Joan L. Hillerby

Joan Hillerby, 92 passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 23, 2025 in Silver Springs, Florida. She was born on April 22,1933 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to the late Harold C. and Cecile (St.Pierre) Walsh and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.

Joan was an avid bowler until the age of 91, being the best in her league year after year. She loved doing puzzles, Zumba, dancing and listening to Elvis. She also enjoyed scratch tickets and gambling,and watching her favorite soap operas. She had a zest for life, and her infectious smile was cherished by so many. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Joan retired from Honeywell, where she worked for many years.

Joan is survived by seven loving children: Danny and wife Cheryl Taschereau of Salem,NH; Dean Taschereau of Barnstead, NH; Doug Taschereau of Epsom, NH; Dale and wife Penny Taschereau of Silver Springs, Florida; Dawn and husband Barry Coakley of Derry, NH; Dana Tisbert of Epsom, NH; and Doreen Taschereau of Georgia. She is also survived by 3 loving stepchildren: Donald Hillerby, Maureen Hillerby and Stacey Caruso and husband Dave, all of Haverhill, MA.

Joan was blessed with 31 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. She also leaves behind one sister, Margaret Landry of Haverhill, MA; and three brothers: Joseph Walsh and his wife Dorothy of Covington, LA; George Walsh of Methuen, MA; and John Walsh and his wife Marilyn of Manchester, NH. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her adored cat,Goldie.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Don Hillerby, Sr. in 2021; her daughter, Debbie Tisbert in 2006; her son, David Taschereau in 2022; and her great-granddaughter Charlotte Turgeon in 2009 as well as her sisters Patricia Hinchcliffe and Rita LaBrecque, and brothers Charles Walsh and William Walsh.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday June 4, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway Methuen. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. A Celebration of Life will take place at the VFW in Methuen directly after the burial from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with food and plenty of Elvis music, per Mom's request.
