Jeannette S. Cockroft

Jeannette S. (Lambert) Cockroft, 84, of Lawrence, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday April 19, 2020.  She was born, raised and educated in Lawrence and lived in the same Water St. neighborhood for 62 years before retiring to New Hampshire.

Jeannette graduated from Lawrence High School and retired as a wage processor for the State of Massachusetts in 1998.

 In her younger years she spent her time perfecting her ice skating abilities with her parents and brother on the Merrimack River.  Shortly after high school she attended a tryout held at the Boston Garden for the Ice Follies. Before leaving the garden ice, she signed a professional ice skating contract. She traveled throughout the states and Canada performing in some of the biggest arenas of their time.

Jeannette also spent many years teaching hundreds of children from Lawrence, how to skate in the after school Learn to Skate program, at the old Frost Arena Skating Rink.

She enjoyed her retirement years camping with her husband Joe at Lake Winnipesaukee, attending Ice Follies reunions and all family gatherings.

What gave her the most joy was watching and caring for her granddaughters Deirdre and Hailey.

Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Joseph J Cockroft. She also leaves behind a son, Mark J. and his wife Diane of Windham, NH, a son, David W. of Derry NH, a daughter, Donna  J. Lemieux and her partner Joseph Conroy, of  Raymond NH,  grandchildren Deirdre and Hailey;  and very special friends Lorraine Sawyer of  Lawrence and  Steve Rozelle of Danville, NH.
