Lt. Colonel Jean Robert Alie (U. S. Air Force, Retired), 86, of Pepperell, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2020, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston.
Mr. Alie was born in Holyoke, MA, on December 11, 1933, the son of the late Jean P. and Jeanette (Bineau) Alie. Jean was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and was greatly amused by his great grandchildren.
Jean proudly served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After the Navy, he transferred to the United States Air Force, as an Electronics Engineer, where he designed and installed radar and satellite systems on battleships, airplanes and mountain tops around the world. He loved being part of the United States Air Force and honorably served for 28 years until he retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Jean was a devoted friend and formed life-long bonds with those he met during his time in the military.
Jean married the love of his life in 1956. They spent many years together sharing wonderful memories with family and friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his wife, Marcia (St. Lawrence) Alie, of which he loved and missed dearly. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Jeannine and Louise.
Jean will be sadly missed by his sons, David Alie of Pepperell, MA, Marshall Alie and his wife Diane of Methuen, MA, and Bill Alie and his wife, Tisha of Franklin, MA. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Alie of Oregon.
Papa will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by his grandchildren, Marshall, Lauren, Michelle, Joseph, Sean and Elizabeth, and all his great grandchildren.
Dad, Thank You for your stories, Thank You for your kindness, and Thank You for the love you showered on all of us.
