James “Jack” “Meaney” Meaney, Jr. 72 of Methuen passed away peacefully at home on October 16th, 2022 after a long illness.
Born in Haverhill, the son of the late James and Irene (Beaulieu) Meaney, James was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. As a child he was described as outgoing and a risk taker.
In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Donna {Dube) Meaney, his daughter Jessica, his brother Robert and his wife Joan Marcelais, sister-in-law Brenda Marcelais, adoptive parents, Robert and Ann Tomes, and in-laws Edgar and Claire Dubé.
He leaves behind his daughters Jennifer and her husband Brian Ouellette of Waterville, ME, Claire Meaney of Methuen, MA, and Sarah Meaney of Dracut, MA. His sons, Matthew Meaney of Methuen, MA and Alex and his wife Destiny Bennett of Gardner, MA. James also leaves behind six grandchildren, Alexis and her husband Douglas Meaney-Ramirez, Elizabeth Meaney, Elijah Meaney, and Adaline Meaney of Methuen, MA and Mia and Daniel Bennett of Gardner, MA, and one great grandchild, Peyton Meaney-Ramirez of Methuen, MA. He also leaves behind his siblings Ronn Marcelais, David and his wife Chris Meaney, his twin sister Jeanne and her husband Ed Fuller, Donna Oriet, Betty Tomes, and Robert Tomes as well as his siblings in- law Donald and his wife Pat Dube, Danny and his wife Cindy Dube, Dennis Dube, Diane and her husband Kostas Bloumbas, Dion and his wife Michelle Dube, and Denise and her husband Jay Seney as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind close friends, Paul and his son Justin, Tony, the guys at the BP gas station, Leo, and numerous others.
After high school James worked at North American Van Lines before opening his own business, The Moving Store. After retiring he could often be found helping neighbors and friends with odd jobs and doing home improvement projects. James was always willing to help anyone in need. He always had his XL hot regular coffee in hand or close by. He was funny and witty, constantly making jokes and getting a smile or a laugh out of just about everyone he'd ever met. He and his humor will be greatly missed by so many.
