Irene Potvin Obituary

Irene Therese (Perron) Potvin – Methuen, MA

Irene Therese (Perron) Potvin entered her heavenly home after a short bout with COVID-19 at Holy Family Hospital.  She was a God-Fearing woman who will be deeply missed for her significant and memorable impact on all who knew her.

Born in Lawrence, Irene was one of three children to Paul and Diana Perron.  She spent most of her life living on the same street.  Most recently she resided at Nevins Rehab and Nursing Care.  Family was most important in her life, especially when she created her own.  She was the cornerstone of her family and the epitome of selflessness.  Her ultimate strength was the love and care she was able to give no matter what life threw at her.

She married the love of her life Napoleon (Paul) on June 20, 1954 and they were married for 59 loving years.   Their house was filled with love and laughter and eating all of her Canadian delicacies.  She enjoyed sewing and making clothes for her family.

Irene was a long-time parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence.  She was one of the activities coordinators and scheduled many bus trips.  She also organized many craft fairs, spaghetti and bean suppers.  She volunteered in the school cafeteria as well as cleaning the church.  She was a member of their fifty-five and over club.  Once her beloved church closed, she was given the infant Jesus statue as a thank you and a fond remembrance.   She later became a parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church in Andover, where she joined the senior ministry.  Irene was a member of the Third Order of Mary.  She valued close relationships with other church members.

Irene was predeceased by her loving husband, Napoleon and her two brothers, Paul and Robert Perron.  Irene is survived by her daughter, Diane Bard of Lawrence; her son, Bob Potvin of Lawrence; her daughter, Anne Marie Martineau and husband David of Methuen, and her daughter, Jeanne Molloy of Haverhill, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive her.  Irene is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Betty Potvin, Sandy Potvin, and Mary Perron and her brother-in-law, Walter Potvin.  Irene also leaves behind her best friends, Hazel, Walter, and Klara.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis services for Mrs. Potvin will be private.  A tribute to her life will be celebrated with family and friends at a later date.  In-lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the charity of one’s own choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  Please visit www.dewhirstbolesfuneral.com to sign the online guest book.
