Helena A. Holden, of Warminster, formerly of Naples, FL and Warrington, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Ann’s Choice Retirement Community. She was 96 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on April 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Julia Checovich. Helena was the wife of 58 years to the late Frederick R. Holden, who passed away in August of 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Hauer and her husband, Alfred, of Sellersville; two granddaughters, Carey Ellen Hauer McArthur and Amber Dawn Hauer; several nieces and nephews living in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In addition to her husband and parents, Helena was preceded in death by her son, Robert Martin, who passed away in October of 2006.
Early in her career, she worked for the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, PA. She, also, worked early on in the Aviation Supply Office in Philadelphia. Helena was very active all her life. She was a Girl Scouts Leader and belonged to the Warrington Jr. Women’s Club. She volunteered for Treasure Chest, for mentally challenged adults in Doylestown. In her free time, she enjoyed travelling, sailing, and playing bridge. Helena enjoyed golfing and played for 39 years. She was a member of Doylestown Country Club. Helena was, also, a member of the Warrington Sr. Women’s Club and Red Hat Society.
Interment will be in the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours Monday, June 21st from 10:30AM to 12 Noon at Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA; followed by a Graveside Service at 12:30PM at Lithuanian National Cemetery, Methuen, MA.
