Helen M. (Sable) Otis – Methuen, MA

Age 80 of Methuen died on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a year long, brave battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  She was born in Haverhill, MA on July 21, 1939 the daughter of the late, Harry and Mary (Lidwin) Sable.  She was raised and educated in both Haverhill and Methuen, MA having moved to Methuen in her early teens.  Helen met the love of her life, Raymond Otis.  They were married for nearly 63 years at the time of her passing.

Helen was a stay at home mom who raised their 3 daughters.  She had worked part-time for Leone’s Furniture and was a receptionist for a local doctor’s office.  She volunteered many hours for her church.  She enjoyed many years boating at Lake Winnipesaukee with her family.  Her favorite things in life were celebrating birthdays and holidays with her children and grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed her time away with her kids on their annual Christmas shopping trip.

Helen is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Raymond S. Otis, her 3 daughters; Lori Bertrand, Lisa Burdin and her former spouse, Keith as well as Leslie Scholtz and her husband, Rick, her 4 grandchildren with whom she shared a special bond and who will miss her terribly; Scott Burdin and wife, Lindsay, Samantha Burdin and Adam and Tori Scholtz.  She is also survived by her brother, Bob Sable as well as many nieces, nephews and friends, especially her very special friend Patricia Ruhmann with whom she shared a friendship of more than 65 years together.  Helen was predeceased by her brother, Bill Sable and his spouse, Helen, her sister, Pauline Sable and husband, Jack.

Calling hours are Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 2 – 5 PM at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  Funeral Services are Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the service in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover, MA.  In-lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christian Fellowship Church, Tenney Memorial Chapel, P.O.
