Helen Joncas Obituary

Helen Louise (Murray) Joncas was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to John A. and Helen M. (Terrio) Murray. She passed from this life on April 1, 2023. Helen graduated from St. Rita’s grammar school, St. Mary’s High School in Lawrence and Burdette College in Boston, MA and went on to have a fulfilling career and family life. Upon graduation, Helen began her career as a secretary to the Superintendent of Marlan Mills in Andover, MA, where she worked for five years until the birth of her first child. She later returned to work and was employed with Arlington Trust for seven years, and later with First Essex Savings Bank as a Branch Manager where she retired after 20 years of service. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her strong work ethic and dedication to excellence.

Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caregiver to her own mother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed vacationing with them at Salisbury and Seabrook beaches throughout her lifetime as well as Myrtle Beach in South Carolina in her later years with her husband Henry. As her family continued to expand, she was always proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's accomplishments, and loved seeing all the new additions being added to the family. They gave her great joy and happiness.

In addition to her work and family Helen belonged to organizations such as The Northeast Chapter of Women in Banking, The first Essex Bank bowling league, and St. Mary’s Alumni.

Helen is predeceased by her husband Henry D. Joncas of 45 years and Albert J. Sullivan of 20 years. She leaves behind four children: Janice Marie Sullivan and her husband Alan Meyer of
California, Nancy and her husband Gary Kuchar of Methuen, James M. Sullivan of Methuen, and John P. Sullivan and his wife Danielle of Methuen. She also leaves two stepchildren, Robert
and his wife Patricia Joncas of Bradford, and Ellen Parenteau of Danville, NH, 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
