Gerald F. P. Moran, 72 of Lawrence, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of the late John P. Moran of Lowell, MA and the late Leah F. (White) Moran of Methuen, MA. Gerald was born in Lawrence at the Lawrence General Hospital on August 8, 1947 and attended the Lawrence Public Schools.
Before going into the military he worked at Demoulas on Essex Street. In 1968, he went into the United States Marine Corp. and was injured during the Viet Nam war and retired as a disabled veteran.
During the course of his life he worked in several different jobs, retiring from the Internal Revenue Service in 2012.
His interest was coaching and umpiring softball and baseball. He also like to bowl and watch the Red Sox and Patriots on television, and he loved the weather channel. He listened to the scanner for fire and police to keep up on what was going on. He was an avid pet lover.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Brenda J. Moran of Lawrence, and his daughters Kathleen Blanchette of Lawrence and late husband Walter W. Blanchette, friend David J. Povilaitis of Methuen, Nicole Dapolito and her husband Dave of New Boston, New Hampshire, and Christina Bourque and husband Tim of Lawrence. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sarah Blanchette, Stephany Povilaitis, Shawn Povilaitis, David Povilaitis, also Ana Bourque, Jason Bourque, and Johnathan Moran, all of Lawrence, MA, and Alexis Close of New Boston, New Hampshire, sister-in-law Karen Kent of Lawrence, several nieces and nephews, cousins and several friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral service will take place on Monday, September 23, 2019, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
