George Abdulla Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George P. Abdulla, a devoted father, loving husband, and steadfast friend, on May 21st, after a long and courageous battle with cancer (multiple myeloma). He was 71 years old.

George was a man of few words but immense strength and dedication. Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, he graduated from Central Catholic High School (CCHS) and went on to attend Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. While pursuing his education, he also worked diligently at the family business, Abdulla’s Bakery, in Lawrence, MA, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep sense of responsibility.

His entrepreneurial spirit led him to create several very successful businesses, including Stateline Amusement and Vending, Anthony’s Pier Restaurant, and GPA corporation. His hard work and vision not only provided for his family but also contributed significantly to the community.

George had a special place in his heart for helping those in need. His acts of kindness and generosity, often performed quietly and without fanfare, touched many lives. He was a man who believed in giving back and made a difference in the lives of many.

A true lover of animals, George had a special bond with the creatures he encountered, whether they were pets or strays in need of care. He also enjoyed playing poker, watching professional football, and driving his cherished Porsche, finding relaxation and joy in these activities.

George was a caring husband to his beloved wife, Elizabeth, for 47 wonderful years. He leaves behind his only and cherished son, Anthony, daughter-in-law Samantha, and granddaughter Zoe. His family was his greatest joy, and he devoted his life to their happiness and well-being. He is also survived by his two brothers, Paul and John, as well as extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

A private service will be held to honor George's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Salem Animal Rescue League (SARL) in his memory, continuing his lifelong passion for helping animals in need.

George's quiet strength, unwavering love, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
