Francis E. “Sonny” Medina, 91, of Methuen passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence.
Sonny was born, raised and educated in Lowell and lived in Methuen for many years. He worked as a pasteurizer for the former Yankee Milk of Andover and in more recent years and before his retirement he worked as a mechanic at Pepsi Cola of Methuen. Sonny enjoyed playing the lottery and taking trips to Foxwoods. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play golf. He was a life member of the Lawrence Elks Lodge, # 65.
Sonny was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Grace V. (Aufiero) Medina. His family members include his brother Ernest Medina, his sister Marilyn (Medina) Miguel and her husband Tony, his sister Mary (Medina) Barreiro, his brother Dennis Medina and his wife Amira, his brother Ralph Medina and his wife Mary and his sister-in-law Carole Aufiero. He also leaves several nieces and nephews including his niece Sharon Zacharias and her husband Richard. He also leaves his daughter Gail Bratt and her husband David. Sonny was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Medina, he was also predeceased by his brother Robert Medina and his wife Elaine, his brother John Medina and his wife Shirley, his sister Elaine (Medina) Davis and her husband John, his sister-in-law Barbara Medina, his sister-in-law Theresa Kater, and his brother-in-law Richard Aufiero.
Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 10 am to 11 am at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843, Attn: facilities manager.
