Francis J. Kobrenski

Francis J. (Frank) Kobrenski, 94, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2019, at Holy Family Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Frances C. Kobrenski, who died in 1993. 

     He was born in Lawrence, MA and lived in Methuen, MA for the majority of his life. He was the son of John and Aniela Kobrzenski and had 3 brothers, Thaddeus, Edward, and Joseph, and 2 sisters, Pauline and Helen, all of whom predeceased him. He attended Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He was employed for many years by the Methuen School Department.

     He was a long time parishioner of the former Holy Trinity Parish in Lawrence, MA, and more recently of St. Monica’s Parish in Methuen, MA.  He was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order as well as the Polish American Veterans at the Julian Stopyra Post in Lawrence, MA. 

      He was very proud of his Polish heritage and liked to cook. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as playing cards and bingo.

     He is survived by three children: daughter Patricia Riopelle and her husband Russell Riopelle of Methuen, MA; daughter Dianne Talty and her husband Richard Talty of Hudson, NH; and son Deacon John Kobrenski and his wife Patrice Kobrenski of Methuen, MA. He had eight grandchildren: Melissa Lang, Rebecca Riopelle, Russell Riopelle, Robert Riopelle, Elizabeth Melville, Matthew Kobrenski, Meaghan Talty, and Jennifer Talty. He had eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sisters-in-law, Katherine C. Byron, who resides in Bradenton, Florida and Joanne M. Kobrenski of Methuen, MA.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home at 80 Broadway in Methuen, MA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 13at 11:00AM at St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack St, in Methuen, MA, followed by interment at St Mary/Immaculate Conception Mausoleum in Lawrence, MA. 

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Francis’ name to St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack St, Methuen, MA. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, MA for the wonderful care they gave our father during the last months of his life.
