Ernest Violette and Eva (Vaitkunas) Violette are together again. Ernest, age 83, passed on March 9, and Eva, age 86, followed on March 24.
Ernie was born on September 25, 1942, in Lowell, Massachusetts to Lawrence and Clarinda Violette. Ernie was most proud of his time working for Digital Equipment Corporation.
Eva was born on March 24, 1940, in Lawrence, Massachusetts to Anthony and Frances Vaitkunas. After graduating from Lawrence General Hospital Nursing School, she dedicated nearly 50 years of service to Lawrence General before retiring.
Ernie and Eva were married for 62 years. Building a life centered on family.
In 1969, they endured the heartbreaking loss of their son, Ernest at just two years old.
Ernie will be remembered for his deep love of the Red Sox and his “dad” jokes. Eva was a dedicated nurse who loved caring for others. She found joy in quilting and lovingly crocheting blankets for family and friends.
They are survived by their daughters, Catherine DeSabella and her husband, Matthew and Michelle Leahy and her husband, John. They also leave behind five grandchildren Tara Silva and her husband, Joseph, Kathleen Leahy and her partner, Tyler Gagnon-Farrell, Aubrey Sancho and her partner, Brian Millmore and Autumn Sancho and Sophie Sancho. They especially adored their great-grandchildren, Robert, Olivia, Cameron and Benjamin.
Ernest was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Armand, Roger, Robert, Lorraine and Jeannette and John “PeeWee” Silva who was a father figure to him. Eva is survived by her brother, William and her brother-in-law, Robert Michaud and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Ann Michaud.
Services will be held privately at a later date.
