Elaine Denise (Barry) Gillick

Elaine D. (Barry) Gillick, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born at the family home, 55 Dorchester Street, Lawrence, MA, on December 30, 1938. She lived in N. Andover for many years. Elaine was the daughter of James J. Barry, Sr., and Mary Frances (Casey) Barry of Lawrence and North Andover.  Elaine was a graduate of St. Patrick High School, Lawrence, MA.

Elaine met and married Francis W. Gillick, son of Frank P. Gillick and Juliette (Sheehan) Gillick, on May 26, 1962.  Elaine and Frannie proudly raised three children, Francis, Jr., Michael and Ellen, until his passing in 1977.  Elaine and her children always maintained a very strong relationship with the Gillick Family including her sister-in-law, Julie Gillick.

Elaine was employed by the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for 37 years before retiring in 2009.  Elaine loved to travel.  Her favorite destination was Ireland, which she visited many times.  She loved music, especially Irish music, and of course, John Denver.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Francis W. Gillick; her sons, Francis W. Gillick, Jr. and Michael J. Gillick.  She is survived by her daughter, Ellen and son-in-law Glenn K. Dubois of Pelham, N.H., with whom she recently resided; grandsons, Alexander J. Dubois and Matthew P. Dubois and his fiancé, Adelina M. Katzounos; a brother, James J. Barry, Jr.; a sister, Maureen P. Barry; and several nieces and nephews.

Elaine was also predeceased by her brother, John M. Barry; her sister, Sister Ann Marie Barry, SCH; and sister-in-law, Sheila Barry.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at St. Michael’s Church, SIXTH STREET, LOWELL, MA at 10:00 a.m..  Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover.
