Edward W. Gagne, 95, of Methuen, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2020.
Eddie was born in Lawrence on September 8, 1924 to the late Louis and Victoria (Dubois) Gagne, and was educated in local schools. Eddie proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II on the U.S. S. Colahan for three years in the South Pacific Theatre. Upon his return, he married the love of his life, Yvette LaBranche, with whom he shared 73 years of marriage. Over the years, he was employed by the Boston and Maine Railroad, H. K. Webster Co., and Nabisco. Eddie enjoyed woodworking in his basement workshop for many hours. He loved making birdhouses, Uncle Sam statues, Adirondack chairs, and toys for his grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 73 years, Yvette (LaBranche) Gagne; his sons, Roger Gagne and his wife Joyce, Richard Gagne and his wife Pat; his daughter, Linda Rushton and her husband Rick; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Tara, Tim, Allison and Bonni; his great grandchildren, Tyler, Izabelle, Jasmine, Izac, Issac, Yvette, Ian, Maely, Jack, Ellen, and Elsie.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 10844 on Thursday, August 13, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Due to Covid-19 pandemic conditions, face masks are required and social distancing must be observed at all times.
