Douglas H. Hayman

Douglas H. Hayman passed away on August 26, 2026 at his home in Haverhill, MA after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was born in Boston on January 14, 1949 and was adopted by his loving parents Horace and Mary Jane Hayman.  Doug grew up in Andover with his adopted sister, Elizabeth, in a Catholic home filled with love and laughter.

Doug graduated from Austin Prep High School in Reading, MA and Bates College in Maine.  He was employed by the IRS for many years before retiring in 2015.  Douglas was a champion for the unborn and was involved in Catholic pro-life activities for all of his adult life, including Operation Rescue, Massachusetts Citizens for Life and the Respect Life group at St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence.

Doug spent much of his free time going on nature walks, simply enjoying the beauty of the earth.  He would often take photos of picturesque scenes of ducks on a pond, beautiful sunsets and the brilliant colors of Fall foliage.  He also enjoyed watching documentaries which featured wildlife, describing habitats and the day-to-day survival skills of animals.

Doug displayed tremendous courage and grace for the duration of his illness.  He never complained and was very grateful to the staff at Benchmark at Haverhill Crossings for their attention and kindness to him. He always thanked his family and friends for visiting him and was always concerned for their well-being.

Doug was predeceased by his parents and sister Elizabeth Bibeau.

He is survived by his brother-in-law Dennis Bibeau, his niece Nicole Bibeau, his nephews Nathan Bibeau and Peter Bibeau, his greatnieces Cassandra Bibeau and Ryenne Bibeau and greatnephew Brandon Bibeau.

Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation for Douglas on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 from 9am to 10am at Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:30 AM at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen MA 01844. Burial will follow the Funeral Mass at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover, MA.
