Dorothy V. (Smith) Power – Methuen, MA

Dorothy V. (Smith) Power 97, of Methuen MA died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at her home.  She was born on October 21, 1926 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Harry and Katherine (MacLeod) Smith.

“Dot”, as she was known to her family and friends, worked at various retail stores in Methuen and Lawrence MA.  She enjoyed time spent at their summer home in Cape Cod, MA, boating and entertaining with her husband Dick.

She loved reading, traveling, her daily crossword and being outside gardening.

Dot was a member of the Women's Federation and was a faithful parishioner of the First Calvary Baptist Church in North Andover, MA where she spent hours volunteering her time and was known for her delicious lemon squares that she would often donate to bake sales.  

Dot had a warm smile and a kind and generous spirit and will missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dot was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Richard (Dick) Power, whom she married in 1951, and shared 66 years of marriage together. She is survived by cousins Lorraine Nicholson and Lorne Compton both of Arlington, MA, brother-in-law Dennis Flavin of Maine and sister-in-law Tina Power of New Hampshire, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors also survive her.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10-11 AM at the First Calvary Church, 586 Mass Ave, North Andover, MA 01845. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 11 AM at the church. Burial will follow the service in Elwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
