Dianne M. Sheehy

Dianne M. Sheehy, 81, of Lawrence, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Lawrence General Hospital. Dianne was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1943, to Oswald F. Elbe and Lena (Saalfrank) (Elbe) Anderson. She moved to Methuen at the age of six, where she was educated and graduated from Tenney High School in 1962. She attended The Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with honors in 1965. She worked at Lawrence General Hospital proudly providing patient care in various departments in the hospital for many years.

Dianne and her family were members of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the choir. Later she was a member of the St. Lucy Parish in Methuen. Dianne had many hobbies and interests including cooking, baking, knitting, crafts, snowmobiling and gardening. She always loved planting in her yard and decorating for the holidays. She loved her home and was always happiest spending time there with family and friends. Dianne had a love of all animals; many a cat and dog were spoiled over the years in her care, including her current cat, Larry and grand-dog Blizzard. A lifelong sports fan, she enjoyed cheering and at times cursing the Red Sox and Patriots. Dianne was also a member of various social clubs, including the Concordia Club in Lawrence. 

Dianne married her high school sweetheart, Bernard F “Bernie” Sheehy on April 16, 1966. They shared the next 59 years, for better or worse, sickness and health together. They purchased their lifelong home, raised two sons, traveled, and became proud grandparents.

Dianne leaves her husband Bernard F. “Bernie” Sheehy of Lawrence, son Timothy S. Sheehy and his companion Ellen Douglass of Methuen, her son Marc J. Sheehy of Methuen, grandson Timothy J. “T.J.” Sheehy and his companion Sophia Morton of Lawrence, her lifelong family friend and “adopted” daughter Patricia “Tricia” Borgesi of Methuen, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 4 to 8 pm at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (Route 28) Methuen, MA. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:30am at the funeral home with burial to follow at St, Mary’s Cemetery, Lawrence.
