February 10, 1970 ~ January 4, 2021 (age 50)

Denise Murray – Methuen, MA

Denise Murray, 50, passed away in her sleep on January 4, 2021 at her home in Methuen, MA. Born in Methuen on February 10, 1970, Denise was educated in Lawrence. Denise was a Merrimack Valley icon, and well-known glamour queen who left a sparkle wherever she went.

Denise was a fierce advocate for the Stop the Violence movement, and for Mothers of Murdered Children.  Denise was the first person on the doorstep of a grieving family who lost their child to violence. Denise lost her son Timothy to gun violence, and she conducted her own investigation which led to the conviction of her son’s murderer. Denise was always sensitive to the needs of others, and frequently volunteered to support programs and events to aid the homeless and less fortunate.

Denise was the daughter of the late James Murray and is survived by her parents Mae (Kitty) and Carlton (CC) Christie. Denise was predeceased by her son Timothy Walker and her grandsons, Timothy and Julio Pizzini.  Denise was the proud mother of Myles and Kenya Ferrell both of Lawrence. Denise’s greatest joy was her grandchildren, Mylani, Egypt, Myles Jr, and Nova who lovingly called her “LaLa”.

Denise leaves her sisters, Varnetta Jones and her husband Dewayne of North Carolina, Tonya Woods also of North Carolina, and Celeste (Sweet Pea) Murray of Methuen, MA.

Denise is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and her special friend Michael (Mikey) Iona.

Denise spent many years as the administrative assistant for the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce, where she became a huge part of the business community. Denise was most recently employed by MA Hire Merrimack Valley Workforce board where she continued her passion for helping people.

Denise touched the hearts of everyone she met.  She was known for her impeccable makeup, hair, and her fashion sense. Denise’s daily affirmations and her “unbreakable me” attitude was an inspiration to all.
