Cynthia Salois Obituary

Cynthia R. (Shearer) Salois – Danville, NH

Cynthia R. (Shearer) Salois, age 78, of Danville, NH passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at her home in Danville.  She was born on December 20, 1942 in Lawrence, MA the daughter of the late, Clinton and Ruth (Whatmough) Shearer.  She was raised and educated in Methuen and graduated from the Tenney High School Class of 1960.  She earned an Associate Degree from Burdett College in Boston, MA and worked for many years as a medical secretary.

Cynthia was a devoted wife to her beloved Marine husband, Robert E. Salois. She knew what service and sacrifice meant especially having lost her father as a child in active service of our country during World War II.  Cynthia’s religious beliefs guided her in life.  She walked in her faith, grounded in a belief she instilled in her family.   Cynthia nurtured everything she touched, her family, her plants and gardening and her Siamese cats.  Cynthia also enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, walking and especially antiquing.  She had owned her own antique shop called Jeremiah Benfield’s in Fremont, NH for many years.

Cynthia loved spending time with her grandchildren as their caregiver when young, and then supporting them by following their many pursuits and attending their events; she was very proud of all of their accomplishments.  She loved to travel and often visited Canada and PEI with her husband as well as Cape Cod and the Maine coast with husband, daughter and grandchildren.  She was especially fond of her Wednesday “date days” with her husband adventuring all over New England.

Cynthia’s love of family history was as strong as her faith.  An avid historian, she pursued family genealogy with a passion.  She loved to bake, a skill passed down from her mother, and every member of the family had a favorite request. She spent weeks preparing each holiday treat especially Christmas goodies.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her son, Scott A. Salois and life partner, Barbara Lemay of Hooksett, NH, her daughters, Laurie J. Frost of New Boston, NH and Danielle M. LeClair of Portsmouth, NH, her sisters, Lynne Austin of Salem, NH and Linda Varnum Kauffman and her husband, Jim Kauffman of Hudson, NH, her grandchildren, Robert Salois, Nicholas Frost, Kacey Frost, Kaitlyn LeClair and Nathan LeClair.  Many nieces and nephews also survive her.
