Claire F. Whicher – Methuen, MA

Claire F. Whicher age 94 of Methuen, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Sutton Hill Nursing Home in North Andover, MA.  Claire was born in Lawrence, MA on June 23, 1928 the daughter of the late, Oscar J. and Adeline (Donovan) Fleming.

Claire was raised in Methuen and had attended Methuen Public Schools.  She graduated from Searles High School.

She was employed by AT&T for many years as an operator and later as a supervisor.

Claire enjoyed doing needle point as a hobby.  She enjoyed volunteering her time at the Comprehensive Grammar School in Methuen.  She was a communicant of St. Lucy’s Parish in Methuen for many years.

Survived by her sisters, Margaret (Thomson) Reding and Lorraine (Thomson) Yaskoski, her brother, Thomas Thomson, sister-in-law Nora (Zuill) Fleming as well as several niece's and a nephew.

Claire was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy (Fleming) Curran and her husband, Joseph, her brothers, Francis Fleming and his wife, Eileen (O'Donnell), William Fleming, Charles Fleming, and Walter Thomson.  She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Joseph "Pete" Reding and Thomas Yaskoski. Claire will also be missed by her long-time friend Dee Hanson and her husband, Terry as well as her 9-year-old cat, Harry.

There are no calling hours.  Family and friends are invited to attend Claire’s Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, MA 01844.  Burial will follow the Funeral Mass in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
