Claire M. (Weber) Kuchar, 87, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2019 with her family members by her side at the Berkeley Nursing Home.
Born and raised in Lawrence, the daughter of William and Albina (Subatch) Weber, Claire was a graduate of Lawrence High School Class of 1950 and McIntosh Business School. Following her graduation, Claire married her high school sweetheart, the late Frederick A. Kuchar, who was in the Air Force and stationed in El Paso, Texas. The newlyweds lived in Texas for a short time before settling back in the Lawrence and Methuen area where they started a family. After raising seven children, she returned to work as a secretary at St. Ann’s Home where she retired after 20 years of dedicated service. Claire’s life revolved around her family and home, where she and her husband worked tirelessly to instill strong family values in their children. A lifelong lover of the beach, it was not uncommon to see her on a summer day building sandcastles with her grandchildren or taking early morning walks along the shore. Hers was a life well lived and will sorely be missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her husband Fred of 46 years, her son Wayne Kuchar and her brother William Weber. Claire leaves behind her children Gary Kuchar and his wife Nancy of Methuen, Cheryl Kuchar of Methuen, Elaine Boyle and her husband Peter of Salem NH, Dianne Joyce and her husband Dean of Pelham NH, Erick Kuchar and his wife Ellen of Merrimac, Brian Kuchar and his wife Christine of Sandwich, and her sister-in-law Mary Weber. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at St. Monica’s Church, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA 01844. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Berkeley Nursing Home, 150 Berkeley Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.
