Charlie Riddick Obituary

 

Charlie “Bruce” Riddick was born on May 2, 1941, to the late Joseph S. Riddick and Willie Cleo (Parks) Riddick of Gatesville, NC. He was called home to glory on May 31, 2026, at Lawrence General Hospital where he was surrounded by his family and loved ones.

He was educated in the North Carolina School system where he graduated from Central High School in Gatesville, NC. On July 21, 1962, Bruce married the love of his life, the late Marion L. Riddick. Marion and Bruce were married for 62 years until her passing in April 2025.

Bruce worked at Malden Mills in Lawrence, MA for many years, until he retired in 2001. He went on to work at Middlesex Community College for 5 years. He was a member of Third Baptist Church in Lawrence, MA for many years and until his passing was a longtime member of New Life Christian Ministries in Lowell, MA. He was an Ordained Deacon, Church Treasurer, a member of the New Life and New Life Men's choirs.
 

He was member of St. James Lodge #20, Lawrence, MA where he served as the Chaplain and Treasurer and Hiram Grand Lodge AF & AM, Boston, MA. He was a Masonic member for more than 50 years.
 

Bruce is survived by his son Brian B. Riddick and his wife Ileana of Nashua, NH, his daughter Debra A. Riddick of Methuen, MA, his grandson Donell J. Riddick of Methuen, MA and his three great-granddaughters, Savannah, Sonya and Symone Hawkins of Lowell, MA, his sisters Ola M. (Richard) Brown, Mary A. Baker, Helen Hardie, Doris Riddick and Cynthia (Ray) Hall, brothers-in-law Ernest Douglas of SC and Roy R. Jones, of GA, sister-in-law Elsie Riddick of NC, his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins as well as those who saw Bruce as a second father and his many lifelong friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his loving wife Marion L. Riddick, his brothers and sisters Joseph S. (Jessie) Riddick, Jr., William A. Riddick, Bessie Douglas, Delmar Riddick, Delois Hall and Cleo Knight and brothers-in-law Willie Baker Sr., Richard Jones and Charlie Hardie.

Family and and friends are invited to visitation on Saturday June 13, 2026 from 11 am to Noon at Calvary Baptist Church 60 Hastings Street, Lowell, MA 01851. Officers and members of St James Lodge, # 20 0f Lawrence will conduct Masonic Services at Noon followed by the funeral service. A private burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen will be at a later date.
