Charles J. Vitale, Jr. – Derry, NH

Age 87 of Derry, formerly of Lawrence, MA Passed away peacefully in Derry.  He was born in Lawrence, MA the son of the late Charles and Clara (Paolino) Vitale.  He was educated in Lawrence Schools and received an accounting certificate from Bryant Macintosh School in Lawrence.  As a young man he enjoyed playing sports and spending time with his friends at Petralia’s Corner.  He would always regale everyone with his tales of those “Good Old Days”.  He was proud of his time in the service, especially his time in the U.S. Army 40th Infantry as a Squad Leader during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged.  After leaving the service Charles worked for many years as a supervisor in the shoe industry until his retirement.  His love of sports led him to become an avid golfer at the Merrimack Valley Golf Course where he later became a lifetime member.  He had many interests, among them was his joy of cooking.  He liked making his famous stuffed and marinated peppers for the boys at the golf club.  He especially liked playing Spades with Billy and John.  During his life he loved animals and was a proud owner of 5 Lhasa Apso; Woody, Herman, Smokey, Max and Rusty.

Charles is survived by his sister, Antoinette Lyon, his brother-in-law, Chris DeCesare as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his loving partner, Linda Wiegmann as well as his sisters, Eileen Cruickshank and Minnie DeCesare.
