Charles Tarness Obituary

Charles “Charlie” Tarness passed away at Holy Family Hospital on May 13, 2020.  He was born in Lawrence, MA to the late Abraham Tarness and Labeebe (Mallen) Tarness.  Charlie attended and graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1953.  He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, where he received an honorable discharge in 1963.  He then resided in the City of Methuen, MA with his loving family.

Charlie retired from Lucent Technologies after 30 years of employment.  He enjoyed his free time landscaping and being a devoted husband, father, and Jiddo (grandfather) to his three grandchildren.

Charlie was a kind and generous man who would always be the first person to help friends in need.  He was selfless in his actions always putting the needs of family and friends before his own.

Charlie was an active parishioner of St. Anthony’s Maronite Church and a longstanding member of the Holy Name Society.

Charlie is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 48 years, Georgette (Azzi) Tarness; his children Eleanor Tarness; Pauline (Tarness) Jesionowski and her husband Mike Jesionowski; Matthew Tarness and his wife Melissa (Sousa) Tarness; along with his beloved grandchildren, McKenna, Amelia, and Mason Jesionowski. Charlie was the brother of the late Tom Tarness and leaves behind many other nieces and nephews as well.
