Charles J. Rimas of Methuen, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Lawrence General Hospital at the age of 93.
Born on May 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Adam and Appolonia Rimas. He was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School. He received an Associates Degree from Merrimack College. He served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1952, during the Korean War. He then was employed at Bell Labs in North Andover until his retirement in 1989 after 35 years. Other than the love for his wife, family and friends. he enjoyed fishing at Old Orchard Beach, ME at his summer home.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Joan A. (Jukins) Rimas of Methuen, which they were able to celebrate together on April 16th; his daughters, Diane Rimas of Haverhill, MA; Linda Ciccarelli and her husband Richard of Collegeville, PA; Sheila Pincince and her husband Mark of Hudson, NH; Christine Iannazzo and her husband Philip of Methuen, MA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Alicia, Gregory, Craig, Rachael and Brett, and his great grandchildren, Eli, Avah, Julian and Charles; his sister, Marion Ratto and her husband John of Andover, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Pauline Grazulis and Anna Cooper.
Charlie will be remembered by his great faith in God and his sense of humor. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Lucy’s Church in Methuen for 35 years.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to a Funeral Mass to be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in St. Lucy’s Church, Merrimack St., Methuen at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen, MA. Everyone, please meet at church. At the request of the family, there are no calling hours.
