Catherine M. (Van Egroo) Marsland

Catherine M. Marsland – Methuen, MA

Age 89 of Methuen passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 2, 2020 with her family by her side.  She was born in Providence, RI on December 28, 1930 the daughter of the late, Gervais A. and Madeline (Arlequeeuw) Van Egroo.  She was raised in Lawrence and educated in Lawrence Schools.

Catherine had worked at Western Electric, ITT Semiconductor and St, Jude Medical in the local area for many years.

She was a ferocious reader who also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.  She loved spending time with her family, especially during the Holidays.  Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she loved to take them to Kingston State Park to go swimming and for cookouts.  Catherine loved to cook for her family and was known for her amazing homemade cheesecake and chicken wings.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 69 years, Orin R. Marsland of Methuen, her son, Wayne A. Marsland and wife, Donna of Atkinson, NH, her daughter, Victoria Marsland of Methuen, her son, David Richard and wife, Lynne of Salem, NH, her daughter, Christine M. Newby of Methuen and her sister, Evelyn Letourneau of Springvale, ME.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy C. Marsland Carter, her granddaughter, Sherri G. Carter Enaire and her sister, Geraldine Corriveau.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Nevins Rehabilitation Centre and Compassion Hospice for their special care for Catherine over these last several months.

Visitation for Mrs. Marsland will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 6-8 PM at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.  A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 11 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the Funeral Service in St. Mary's / Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.  Donations may be made to:  Compassion Care Hospice, 800 Cummings Park, Suite 3100, Woburn, MA 22583.
