Carol A. Moynihan – Methuen, MA
Carol A. Moynihan, 83, of Methuen, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
Born in Lowell on Dec. 16, 1939 to James E. and Helen A. (Myron) Scanlon. Carol graduated from Lowell High School.
Carol worked at Raytheon until she took a new position as a loving, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Carol was an amazing wife taking great care of Andy especially as he battled sickness the last seven years of his life. She was a very dedicated daughter and niece visiting her mom, dad, aunt, and uncle every Sunday – without fail – to bring them milk from the local farm. She loved spending time with her four siblings and accommodating her boys so they could compete in sports – not to mention help with their paper route. Just the mention of her grandsons, Matthew and Zachary, made her beam with pride. Also, she never missed an episode of “Guiding Light” in its fifty-seven-year run.
Carol is predeceased by her husband Andrew J. Moynihan, Jr.; sister Nancy E. Begley; brother James D. Scanlon; and her sister-in-law Christine M. Johnson.
She is survived by her sons Andrew J, Moynihan, III and his wife Nida of Pittsburg, CA and David J. Moynihan and his wife Gina of Methuen; her sisters Maureen E. Scanlon of Lowell and Linda J. Lacey of Stoneham; grandchildren Matthew T. Moynihan and Zachary A. Moynihan; one nephew and seven nieces.
The family would like to thank both Grace Morgan House and Salemhaven for the excellent care provided to Carol over the last five years.
