January 28, 1952 - October 25, 2018

Carl Otto Runge, III died peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a battle with ALS. He was born January 28th, 1952 in Anchorage, AK to Carl Otto Runge Jr. of Reading, MA, and Marjorie Etta(Williams) Runge of Boston, MA. He grew up in Reading, MA where he attended Reading Memorial High School. He later attended MIT and became a licensed plumber. Carl married his high school sweetheart, Dianne (Dini) Marie (Butt) Runge on July 10th, 1971. They moved to Methuen, MA where they made a home and raised a family.

Carl loved the outdoors and spent his time kayaking, fishing, and camping with his family. You would often find him early in the morning bass fishing at Harris Pond in Pelham NH. He taught his children his love of the outdoors as well and in recent years he loved spending time at their camp on Graham Lake in Mariaville, ME. He was an avid Boston sports fan - especially the Patriots. Every game day you were sure to find him in his recliner wearing his favorite jersey. He would never miss a game sitting and watching with his sons. Carl enjoyed working on cars, and with his brother together they built a race car that they ran at Star speedway Epping NH. A lover of Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, and the Blues, he often attended many venues with family and friends.
