Barbara A. Penn

Barbara A. (Stoehrer)  Penn, 89, of Salem, NH, formerly a longtime resident of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2022 at Aspen Hill Rehab and Healthcare.

Born in Nashua, NH, she was the daughter of Robert and Ida (Herold) Stoehrer.  Barbara moved with her family to Methuen, MA in her early teens and graduated from Searles High School in 1950.  She met her husband, Donald, at Salisbury Beach and they married in 1954. 

Barbara enjoyed camping with her family at Dolly Copp Campground in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Salisbury State Reservation in MA.  She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and loved watching and competing with her two grandsons. 

Predeceased in 2009 by her husband of 55 years, Donald E. Penn and son, Stephen, in 1992, she will be lovingly remembered as a sweet and kind soul; very much dedicated to her family.  She leaves behind her daughter, Linda and her husband Thomas Durso;  her son, Donald Penn, Jr. of Salem, NH; and two grandsons, Jason Durso of Haverhill, MA, and Joseph Durso of Salem, NH.

Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Hill Rehab for their kindness and compassionate care to Barbara as well as to her family.

Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Monday October 17, 2022 from 11 am to Noon at the Dewhirst Boles Funeral Home 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow the visitation at Noon on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.
