Annette (Mercier) Bernier, 87, formerly of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully at home in Bradford, MA on September 10, 2024
Annette was born on April 28, 1937, the youngest of six children. She attended Sacred Heart Grammar and High School in South Lawrence, and married Normand Bernier, also of Lawrence in 1957.
Annette began her working career as a switch board operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph. She soon transitioned to stay-at-home mom, as she and Norm brought eight children into the world before age 30. She took great delight in her family. She had natural artistic ability and spent many hours at the kitchen table doing arts and crafts with her kids.
Annette also worked as a cook and general assistant at the Sacred Heart Rectory. She followed that up working as a layout specialist for the Andover Townsman Newspaper.
Annette was a devout Catholic and member of St Anne parish in Hampstead, NH. Her faith brought her much strength and comfort. She will be remembered as a kind and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her gentle spirit and sense of humor will be sorely missed.
Annette was predeceased by her husband Normand Bernier and by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her eight children; Catherine Moore and her husband Dean, Jacqueline Alix and her husband Albert, Rose Nelson and her husband Michael, Anne Comeau and her husband David, Joseph Bernier, Mary Bernier, Thomas Bernier and his wife Cheryl, and Richard Bernier. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Special thanks go out to Sacred Hearts Parish of Bradford, MA for their ministry to Annette in her final years. The family would also like to acknowledge the kind and compassionate care provided by Pathways Hospice.
