Anna Serwatka Obituary

Anna (Turkosz) Serwatka, 94, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Lawrence General Hospital.

  The daughter of the late Antoni and Zofia (Stopyra) Turkosz, Anna was born in Lawrence on July 26, 1926.  She was a graduate of Holy Trinity School in Lawrence and Lawrence High School, Class of 1944.  She was employed in the local textile mills, and later for many years, was employed as the switchboard operator for the Arlington Trust Company of Lawrence, from where she retired.  Anna was a very active member of the former Holy Trinity Church of Lawrence.  She assisted at many parish events, especially preparing Polish food for the parish picnics and the parish Lenten Fish Dinners.  She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Julian Stopyra Post, Polish-American Veterans of Lawrence.  She was active with various senior groups in the area.  Anna enjoyed playing bingo, but especially enjoyed cooking Polish food for her children and grandchildren.  Her love of her life was her grandson, Joey.  Anna was a lifelong Lawrence resident.

  Anna was predeceased by her husband, John F. Serwatka, who died in 1984, and is survived by her three sons, Edward F. Serwatka of Foley, Alabama, Stephen P. Serwatka of Delmont, NJ, and Joseph J. Serwatka  and his wife Pamela and their son, Joseph Serwatka of Haverhill, MA; a granddaughter, Summer of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.  Anna was predeceased by her brother and his wife, Peter and Amelia Turkosz of Methuen.

  A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Monica’s Church, Lawrence Street, Methuen.  Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.  Relatives and friends may call Wednesday  from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
