Andrea D’Amato – Pembroke, ME
It is with broken hearts that we announce that Andrea D’Amato, 61, died peacefully on Friday, April 17th, after fighting cancer for almost 5 years. She had taken that time to continue to spread sunshine everywhere she went, living a life full of meaning and purpose, and advocating for women's health. She was the daughter of Leo Turner, a brave and well-respected fireman, and Wanda (Swiec) Turner, an equally impressive matriarch. She is survived by her husband Richard D’Amato, her daughter Jessica Doe, her son Leo D’Amato, and her grandson Alexander Doe. She is also survived by her first husband John Jollotta and his wife Meredith Treat, and her cousin Susan Ciras, as well as many other family members and dear friends.
She grew up in Lawrence, MA, and lived for many years in Beverly, MA, where she enjoyed the ocean. In 2020, she moved to Pembroke, ME, where her family could have fresh air and the space for the many animals that would come into their lives.
She graduated from Lawrence High School, and then went on to Simmons College where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communications. She used that degree in broadcasting and a more than 20-year career as a reliable and trustworthy buyer’s agent in real estate. She also worked in several hospice, healthcare, and veterinary positions, to which she brought the utmost attention to detail and compassion. But her favorite job of all was her brief time as a florist, because of her intense love of gardening.
Andrea loved adventure and sunsets. She was a loving mother, wife, daughter, and friend. Everywhere she went she made lifelong connections with people touched by her joy and integrity. She was impressive in everything that she did. Andrea was a sunflower that found sunlight even when skies were gray.
