Amelia A. Stundza, 98, of Lawrence, died under the excellent care of the Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center in Methuen on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
The daughter of the late Anthony Stundza and Anne (Selemonaite) Stundza, previously of Tauragnai, Lithuania and Panemunis, Lithuania, and later of Lawrence. Amelia was born in Lawrence, MA on January 10, 1924. She was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1942, and later received her Degree in Business Administration from Boston University. She was employed for Hanover Insurance Company of Boston, Royal Insurance Company of Lawrence, and lastly as head of the C. E.T.A. Program Accounting Department, from where she retired. A very active member of the Lithuanian-American Community of Lawrence, Amelia was an active board member of the following organizations: Lithuanian Women’s Citizens Club, Lithuanian St. Anne’s Society, Lithuanian-American Council, the Lawrence Y.W.C.A. Board of Directors and their Homeland’s Festival. She was also a member of the Knights of Lithuania, Friends of the State Park and Lawrence History Center. Amelia annually assisted in the Lithuanian Independence Day Celebration and annually funded a scholarship for a Lawrence High School graduate. Amelia was an Executive Board Member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Lithuanian National Catholic Parish in Lawrence. After the church’s closing, Amelia was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Lawrence.
Amelia was predeceased by her brother, John A. Stundza and his wife, Matilda of Lawrence, her nephew, Thomas J. Stundza, and her parents, Anthony and Anne Stundza. She is survived by her nephews, William Stundza and Jonas Stundzia, both of Lawrence and a cousin, Jim Stundze.
Relatives and friends are sincerely invited to calling hours on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 Noon at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the family lot at the Lithuanian National Catholic Cemetery, North Lowell Street (Rt. 113), Methuen.
