William Riese, Jr

William Riese, Jr. 98 of Lawrence passed away on Tuesday December 11, 2018 at Salemhaven, Salem,NH. Mr Riese  was born in Germany. He was the son of Adele (Strube) and William Riese who came to Lawrence in 1929. William was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He worked in the Lawrence area as a meat cutter.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He truly loved the outdoors. As a young man, he would travel the farms of Derry, NH and rid the farmers of the pesky woodchucks that would ruin the farmer’s crops.

He was the beloved husband of his late wife Edythe B. Riese. He was also a devoted father to his daughters, Susan Cunningham of Derry, NH. and Nancy and her husband Vincent Ferrante of Chelmsford, MA.  William was predeceased by his sister Gretchen Schuch, his sons Stephen and William Riese ,III, his daughter in law Marcia Riese and son in law Michael Cunningham. He also leaves his 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Mr Riese’s family would like to thank his friends and the staff at Salemhaven, and Amedisys Hospice Care for their kind and compassionate care. 

Family and friends are invited to an hour of visitation on Saturday January12, 2019 from 10am to 11am at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
