Veronica F. Murray (Tanana), 93 of Methuen passed away on September 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lawrence, Mass. December 21, 1923, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen Tanana and was a lifelong resident of Methuen.

She was a graduate of Searles High School class of 1941 and attended Fay Secretarial School in Boston, Mass.

She retired from the IRS after 20 years and volunteered at the Methuen Senior Center preparing taxes for the seniors. She was also a member/ secretary at the Polish American Veterans Julian Stopyra Post Ladies Auxiliary in Lawrence. Her door was always open and she will be remembered as a kind and loving person by all who knew her. She also loved to sew, bake and cook for her family. Her pies would sell out in a matter of minutes at the bake sales. Her favorite times were family gatherings, playing cards and going to the beach with her grandchildren. Veronica always spoke of the importance of family, God and her favorite line was, it doesn't cost anything to be nice so use it. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and very proud of her Polish heritage.

She was a long time member of Holy Trinity Church in Lawrence, Mass. until it closed then attended Saint Monica's Church in Methuen.

Veronica was married 55 years to Jesse L. Murray until his passing in April 2009. Veronica is survived by her children, Leonard F. Murray of Methuen and daughter Nancy L. Hersch and husband Louis E. Hersch of Windham, N.H. her brother Thomas Tanana and wife Marge of San Diego, Calif. several other nieces and nephews and her three grandchildren Jason , Eric, Lauren and husband Nick all of Londonderry, N.H.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours Friday, September 29, 2017 from 9 AM - 11 AM at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral Service will be at 11 AM on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Veronica's name to St. Monica's Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA 01844 or St. Elizabeth's Hospital, 736 Cambridge St., Brighton, MA 02135.
