Thomas C. MacLauchlan

Thomas C. MacLauchlan, Jr., 79, of Seabrook Beach, NH died peacefully at home while surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 after a short battle with bile duct cancer.

 

Tom was born in Lawrence on June 8, 1932 to the late Thomas C. and Gertrude (McIntosh) MacLauchlan. He was a 1950 graduate of Lawrence High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  After the service, he went on to further his education and graduated from Bentley College and Graduate School of Savings Bank at Brown University.  Tom worked at Lawrence Savings bank for 30 years, retiring in 1986. He then went on to work for Boston Federal Savings Bank in Burlington, MA, until 2005. Tom went on to serve his community with being a member of the Cerebral Palsy Board(Lawrence), Chamber of Commerce (Lawrence) Revolving Loan Funds Member Drives, Treasurer for Family Planning (Lowell), Treasurer International Institute(Lawrence), Arlington Neighborhood Housing and Redevelopment(Lawrence), President of Trustees for Berkeley Retirement Home(Lawrence),Board of Salvation Army (Lawrence), Builders and Contractors of Merrimack Valley.

 

Tom was devoted to his family and friends and loved spending time with them. He loved to golf, fish, travel, gamble, and play practical jokes on everyone. He and wife spent their winters in Florida where they found a second family of friends.

 

He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Eleanor (Castle) MacLauchlan, their daughter Nancy Kennedy of Methuen, and three sons, Thomas C. III, of North Berwick, ME, Scott D. and his wife Jamie (St. Louis) of Salem, NH, and Glenn C. and his wife Joan (McCarthy) of Methuen. Tom is survived by  eleven grandchildren; Kristen and her husband Jason Colon of Goffstown, NH, Michelle MacLauchlan and her partner Jay Roberge of Manchester, NH, Shaun MacLauchlan  and his partner Amanda Plante of Rochester, NH, Nicholas MacLauchlan and his wife Lisa (Marsland) of Everett, MA, Daniel, Jessica, and Kelsey MacLauchlan of Methuen, MA, Michael Kennedy and his partner Nicole Dasilveira of Methuen, Thomas Kennedy and his partner Xiaoyun Li of Methuen, Amanda and Matthew MacLauchlan of Salem, NH; Six great- grandchildren, Kaila and Jasmine Colon of Goffstown, NH, Ellie Kennedy of Methuen, MA, and Aaron, Alexis and Amelia Roberge of Manchester, NH; His sisters, Maryann and husband William Lauterback of Spofford, NH, and Jean and her husband Robert LeBlanc of Methuen; and a special cousin who was more of a brother, Robert Perreault and his loving wife Yvonne of Methuen; Also his brothers-in-law, John Castle and his partner Arletta Collette of Florida and Robert Castle of Florida; Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close personal friends.

 

We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses that attended to our loved one during his illness.

 

Friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 3 to 7 p.m at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA.  A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Committal services with military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.  In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to the Rockingham VNA and Hospice located at 137 Epping Rd. Exeter, NH 03833.
