It is with deep sadness that the family of Thomas F. Cusack, Jr., 79, of Lawrence announces his passing on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at his home after a year of hospice care.
Born in 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio, as the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Casey) Cusack, Tom moved with his family to Lawrence as a child and settled in Lawrence where he remained through his final years. Known affectionately throughout his family as “Da”, Tom graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1956 and Northern Essex Community College in 1965. He served in the United States Army. He was appointed by the City of Lawrence as a firefighter and retired as a lieutenant of the Lawrence Fire Department. If Tom was not enjoying the sunny beaches, you could find him enjoying a variety of New England sports teams. He was a member of Relief’s Inn and the Lawrence Fire Dept. Local 146.
The husband of the late Maryellen (Bell) Cusack, Tom is survived by his children: Cathleen Jones of Mobile, AL; Thomas F. Cusack III of Sandford, ME; Maureen Cusack of Lawrence; Sheilah Cadieux of Waco, TX; 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and several nieces & nephews.
Tom was predeceased by four siblings Margaret (Peggy) Maddox, Eugene Cusack, James Cusack, and Bryan Cusack of Methuen.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to call on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 11:00 am in St. Lucy’s Church, Merrimack St., Methuen. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.
