LAWRENCE, MASS. — Steven A. Hassam, age 66, of Lawrence, Mass., formerly of North Andover, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 19, 2019, with his family at his side, at Mass General Hospital in Boston, Mass. of respiratory failure.
The son of the late John and Charlotte (Flanders) Hassam, Steve was born in Boston. He was educated in the North Andover school system. He resided in Lawrence for many years and he last resided on Brookfield Street, Lawrence, for about fourteen years. He was an EMT for 14 years and was retired for the last couple of years. Steve served in the Army in 1970-1972 and was stationed in Korea. He loved his family, and was a Sci-Fi/horror movie fan, and enjoyed playing on the computer.
His surviving family members are his son Matthew Label and his wife Molly and two grandchildren, Teagan and Cassidy of Quincy, Mass., his sister Charlotte A. Hassam of Derry, N.H., brother Jack (John S. Jr.) Hassam and his wife Judi A. of Haverhill, Mass., sister-in-law Linda A. Hassam (wife of the late brother Robert W. Hassam) of Derry, N.H., brother James W. Hassam and his wife Kim of North Andover, Mass., aunt Doris Currie of Quincy, Mass., and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday January 24, 2019 form 4pm to 5:30pm at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. Funeral services will follow the calling hours at 5:30 pm at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA will be private.
