Ryan Shields, at the age of thirty-nine, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born on April 5, 1978 in Newburyport, Mass and was a lifelong resident of Lawrence.

Some of the things that Ryan enjoyed was his love for music, cars, and sports. He was certainly a big fan of the Celtics, Patriots, and the Red Sox. Another interest that brought Ryan great enjoyment was taking long scenic drives up the coast, as well as to North Conway. Most of all, he especially enjoyed spending time with all of his family.

Ryan attended Lawrence public schools and the Greater Lawrence Technical High School. He received his G.E.D in October 2002 and then went on to attend a school for auto mechanics.

            One of the things that we all loved about Ryan was the fact that he was always very friendly and outgoing, which allowed him to make many good friends over the years. People were drawn to his kind and caring nature. We will surely miss those beautiful loving qualities that he had. Ryan has been associated with the Methuen Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a lifelong bible student. Reading and studying the Bible brought great comfort and hope to his life. He will be missed by all of his family and friends, as well as the many lives that he touched. 

            Ryan is survived by his parents Richard and Janet, his sisters Jennifer and husband Jeffrey Della Penna, Erin and husband Douglas Nelson, Jr, and his sister Taylor Carter. Also his nephews Conor and Ethan, nieces Lanie, Nya, Bella, and Grace, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. A service of remembrance will follow calling hours at 7PM.
