Rosemary B. (Prohaska) Waitt, 86, of Lawrence, passed away peacefully at High Pointe Hospice on Friday, April 26, 2019, with her loving family at her side.
The daughter of the late Carl and Caroline (Knous) Prohaska, Rosemary was born in Carnegle, PA on October 22, 1932. She was a graduate of the Pittsburgh school system. After high school, she enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1950, serving in the Korean War as a Medical Technician. She saw service in Japan and California. While serving in Japan, she met her late husband Alfred F. Waitt, and were married. She received several awards & citations for her military service. After her discharge, she returned to Pennsylvania and later moved to the Springfield, MA area, raising her family. With her family, she moved to Greater Lawrence in 1962 and was employed at Western Electric – AT&T in North Andover, retiring after 28 years of service. She enjoyed travelling with her late husband on his motorcycle.
Rosemary shared 62 years of marriage with her late husband, Alfred F. Waitt until his passing in 2013. She is survived by her children, Rose Cleveland and her husband Bruce Cleveland; Monty Waitt and his wife Gail, Bill Waitt and his wife Karen, Alfred Waitt, Joanne Castricone and her partner and longtime friend Julien Caron; Her grandchildren, Ryan Waitt and his wife Tanya, Justin Waitt and his wife Jessica; Brandon Waitt, Billy Waitt, Sarah Castricone, Jimmy Castricone, AJ Waitt and Spencer Waitt, great-grandchildren, Bella & Gabe Waitt, JJ and Jake Waitt, and Johnathan, Tyler and Michayla.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, May 1, 2019, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Dewhirst & Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Private burial will take place at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg #9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
